We asked Sue "What
has changed after 23 years of marriage"? She is an industrial
designer and licensed interior designer, but Sue finds it amazing
that Amir has taken up Tango and considers it a major breakthrough
for both of them. "I have the same feelings for my wife
that I had on the first day that I met her," said Amir,
an internal medicine physician. When asked the same question
Sue said "At this point in our marriage I love him even
more than when we first met," and to stress those emotions
further Sue, acknowledges that she gets a little
jealous when her husband (that everyone says is a dead
ringer for the handsome movie star Omar Sharif) dances with
someone else.
It took just two weeks
after meeting Sue for Amir to tell her, "I really like
you -- can we get married?" He had never proposed to anyone
before, but knowing that Sue had just turned down his cousin's
proposal, he knew there was no time to waste. Both Sue and Amir
are originally from Baghdad. The minute he met her at her sister's
house here in Chicago, he knew she was the one.
Sue, a student at the
University of Illinois, went on a couple of dates with him and
also found that the "chemistry" was immediate; she
knew it the minute she met him. Amir impressed her by teaching
her how to make bread; however the bread burned because they
were a little distracted by each other & forgot all about
the cooking lesson. It was when she was returning from an exam
that Amir popped the question. They were engaged on February
14th, St Valentine's Day and married on April 21st.
Having
just finished medical school, Amir was in The Windy City in
search of a job; instead of a job, he found a wife & the
love of his life.
What a Tango Relationship!
